Not a dancer, but dance itself – a video of Maya Plisetskaya dancing beautifully the dying swan, aged 61
Like someone else who commented on youtube, I think she is not a dancer, but impersonates dance itself. Even at 61.
A feel-good movie, which left me smiling for the rest of the evening
I watched a good movie a couple of days ago so I thought it was worth sharing. Ballet Shoes (2007) tells the extraordinary story of 3 orphaned girls, each with their own talent, who grow up in a poor but loving home in London in the ’30s and try to follow their dreams of becoming a ballerina, an actress and a pilot respectively. It is a very easy-going film suitable for small children too. It is inspiring and although there are no particularly deep or sophisticated characters, I highly recommend it.
Rhythmic gymnast Kabaeva’s ballet warm-up
Rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabaeva shows her warm-up routine
These videos show the basic warm up routines amazing gymnast Alina Kabaeva does. Unfortunately no English subtitles but you do not really need to understand what she says: it is about trying to replicate the workout yourself.
It is pretty impossible for me to imagine I’d ever be able to do even 1% of the stuff, but hey, it is inspiring to watch!
First ever blog
This is my first blog ever. I will follow the advice given for first-time bloggers and I will provide a brief outline of why I am starting this blog and what the blog will be about.
The truth is that I feel a bit lonely when it comes to my interests and hobbies. My friends typically do not share them, not all of them anyway. So I thought that my ideas and thoughts must be of interest to someone out there, and it is worth sharing them. I hope I am right and I will get similarly-minded folk reading my blog and I will get to read their blogs on similar topics. That is it, in a nutshell. Thanks for reading.
